INCORPORATION OF EGR AND SPLIT INJECTION FOR REDUCTION OF NOx AND SOOT EMISSIONS IN DI DIESEL ENGINES

Abstract

In this paper, reduced temperature combustion has been investigated at high oad condition of a DI diesel engine. A three dimensional CFD model for flow ield, spray, air-fuel mixture formation, combustion and emissions formation rocesses have been used to carry out the computations. The combined effect of GR temperature and EGR rate was analyzed to choose with consideration of ngine performance. Then, the influence of different injection rates and split njection was explored at a reduced temperature combustion condition by the se of EGR. The results represent sensitiveness of various injection schemes on he combustion process and emission formation at reduced temperature ondition in DI diesel engines.
