BROWNIAN COAGULATION OF AEROSOLS IN TRANSITION REGIME
Abstract
The collision efficiency of Brownian coagulation for monodisperse aerosol particles
n the transition regime is considered. A new expression for collision efficiency
s proposed taking into account the influence of tangential relative motion
hen two particles get close enough during the diffusion process. The breakaway
oint from which the theory of near continuum regime no longer applies can thus
e obtained easily. A comparison with experimental measurements shows the accuracy
f the results predicted by the new theory.
