Dear readers and friends of the journal Thermal Science,
It is not my custom, and it is not in my character, to mix professional duties and private and personal feelings. On this occasion I feel that I must make an exception. My very best friend from students days and research colleague during more than 40 years, Prof. Dr. Ljubomir Jovanovic, or Ljuba as we all knew him, has gone, too early, a few months ago.
As Director of the Laboratory for Thermal Engineering and Energy of the Vin~a Institute of Nuclear Sciences, he strongly supported my idea and initiative to start publishing a new scientific journal, and to give opportunity to the researchers from our country, and from the South East European Region, to present their scientific results to the worldwide scientific community.
Even today I have an image of our discussion in his office, in the year 1994, how to name the new born journal. After we both suggested many names, Ljuba proposed THERMAL SCIENCE, as the best name to express our desire to have a journal covering both fundamental and applied science, as well as fundamental processes of the power, process, and chemical engineering. We both accepted this name as the best, and the new journal was born.
Having in mind his role as the godfather of our journal, my wish, as Editor-in-chief, is to devote this issue to Prof. Dr. Ljubomir Jovanovic, and to his contribution to the existence of our journal.
